Goal Setting in Daily Life.
Whether you’re aware of it or not, goal setting is something you do every single day. We all do it, and often we are hardly aware that this process is taking place.
We mostly do our goal setting in the informal forms of sporadic day-dreaming dreaming, planning and thinking about what’s to come and how we would like things to be.
In it’s purest form goal setting is what gets us from A to B each day. It helps us to decide the small stuff like what to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner and what to wear.
Our days are full of setting goals, some of which we will achieve, and some we won’t.
The smaller and more immediate the goal is, the easier it is to achieve. Most of us can follow through on our first goal of the day (hitting the snooze button on the alarm). We progress by getting ourselves out of bed, into the shower etc.
The more significant and the more distant in time a goal is, or the more elements needed to make it happen, the harder it becomes to achieve. So, the more daunting the task becomes. This is where formal, practical goal setting practices come in to play.
Practical goal setting happens when we create goals that are well defined, measurable, achievable and easy to break down into simpler tasks, making the steps to achieving the goal seem realistic and easy to accomplish.
When we do sit down to the task of goal setting, many of us find it difficult to focus and define what we want. It is easy enough to say we want to be happy or to have financial freedom but a lot harder to specify concrete measurable and achievable goals and tasks.
When we are setting our goals, other personal motivations and sabotage programs come into play (like our desire to relax instead of knuckle down to a task). Our goals must align with our values and fit into the broader picture of our daily lives for us to be able to maintain motivation and momentum.
We must understand why we want to achieve our longer-term goals. For us to maintain the persistence needed to achieve goals, it is essential to be engaged in and dedicated to the process.
It can be useful to take the time to think about what kind of goals you habitually set for yourself. You can discover whether these goals expand or restrict your horizons, benefit others as well as yourself, and if they reflect the kind of person you most want to be. It is important that you will enjoy the journey towards achieving the goal to maintain motivation.
The subconscious mind, energy and goal setting:
Kinesiology can assist your subconscious mind to cooperate with your conscious desires. It does this by finding out what sort of sabotage programs and negative beliefs may be hindering your ability to succeed.
This may include investigating your sense of self-worth, self-esteem and confidence levels as well as your sense of purpose.
Kinesiology can help you to uncover past events, inherited or learned beliefs that have shaped your attitudes towards success. Kinesiology can also help you to unblock any energetic blockages to allow the flow of energy to propel you forward.
We call the flow of energy through the major chakras the manifesting and liberating currents. If energy blocks within these currents then we are often unable to make our ideas materialise.
Kinesiology can help you determine other factors that may be preventing your ability to set and achieve goals.
A Kinesiology consultation can assist you in achieving your goals by helping you to find useful techniques for setting and achieving goals and tools for changing behaviour. Helping you to achieve a sense of improved health and vitality. Offering nutritional and lifestyle support. Helping you to let go of past hurts and negative emotions and helping you to achieve a greater sense of self-confidence.
